Family of Pedro Martin de Bartolome

Pedro Martin de Bartolome d 21/5/1839 married Josepha Arranz (c1788-after 1851)

Their known children are:
1.1 Mariano b 17/7/1813 (or possibly 1812) d 2/6/1890
1.2 Margaretta b c1815 married Pierre Jean DuVal (1794-25/7/1835) of St Brelade Jersey in 1835. He had previously been married to Julia Joaquina Aldama (1802-1829) daughter of Jose Ramon Aldama of Santander. Pierre was a trader in salted codfish with Cadiz etc. He had 3 surviving children inc Peter Nicholas Duval JP (1821-1889). De la Torres were godparents of Julia’s children and one was a godparent of Mariano. Both the Arranz and the de la Torre seem to have been prominent Segovia families. There was a Fernando Arranz de la Torre (1746-1798). Maybe someone from de la Torre family will read this! Margaretta had no children.
1.3 Estafania b c1817
1.4 Vicenta b c1819
1.5 Meliton b 9/3/1820 d 14/9/1886. He returned to Spain in 1840.

What a mess! I deeply regret the lack of participation of my family.

I have little time but I will try to answer.

From internet Rogelio de la Rionda seems to have been a medical doctor (like Mariano). Is this correct?

Was Meliton son of Meliton in the army? Why was he in a duel?

Do you know that Mariano was at the artillery school in Segovia from the age of 7 or 8? I went to the Segovia artillery museum when I was there but didn't have time to check their records, but I remember that the records exist and it would be good if somebody can check for his entry for when he joined around 1820

What did Gonzalo do?

Researching Polish exile Ambrose Smolinski who married Pedro's daughter Justine, as you say they moved to Guernsey where they had a child, then onto London where he became a zinc manufacturer. Ambrose was a member of the masonic "Polish National Lodge" founded in 1847. I can not find any more mention of Smolinski and his family post 1851 census.

I also looked into Marianio Bartolome out of interest and found a newpaper mention of him attending a Masonic meeting in Sheffield in June celebrating the St John's Day (a masonic ritual and the patron saint of masons)also attending were Polish exiles Colonel Bertold Wiercinski (used the title Baron occassionaly which he was not entitled to,founder of the Polish National Lodge) and Vincent Werminski (he remained in Sheffield and died there)

I have found a small advert for Pedro as a language teacher in Jersey, but as yet not found any information as to where he was buried.
Kind regards Nick in Jersey
